Colour can alter a person’s mood, inciting anger, inspiring happiness, or sadness. Even so, most people don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the effects of the colours they use in their paintings. With artist Sharon Kirsh, we will explore how to capture colour to communicate those different feelings. After analyzing and discussing the colour wheels, samples of artwork, various colour palettes you will create an abstract painting that employs colours strategically. This workshop is for both acrylic and nonsoluble oils and is suitable for all levels. A supply list will be provided prior to the class. The seniors’ discount does not apply; the full fee is required. 18+ yrs • $57.06/1 McConaghy Centre Sat Nov 3 10:00am-4:00pm 27043

Art Workshop Colour Bootcamp with Sharon Kirsh
This isn’t your typical colour theory class. Artist Sharon Kirsh will, draw from her experiences in both fine art and interior design to help artists at all levels enhance their work through colour. You will learn to mix and blend the “right” colours from your current paints, learning how to choose and purchase supplies more wisely in the future. You will experiment with colours, learning how to use them effectively to express your feelings and ideas. You will start your own colour journal, a method favoured by designers and decorators to store ideas and information. You will create several small paintings during the class that will serve as future inspiration.
In 1965 the Society created Art in the Park to promote local artists and artisans, and today this show has blossomed into Oakville’s premiere art event.
